A new initiative launched in Fraserburgh to put hope within reach of local hurting people was a major success.
The outreach, involving a Prize Draw where the winner will ride off with a brand new Triumph motorbike, was was unveiled at Fraserburgh Tesco on Friday, February 9, and Saturday, February 10.
The draw is being organised to support the work of Teen Challenge North East Scotland.
A team, including Teen Challenge mascot Sunny Bear, was in place at Tesco over the two days to give shoppers a special opportunity to win the bike.
The initiative was used to connect with people who are hurting, letting them know that help is available and change is possible.
Shoppers at Tesco dug deep to help the cause, by either purchasing tickets or donating money to the work, with £4,000 being given in total over the two days.
Gordon Cruden, Area Manager of Teen Challenge North East Scotland, commented: “We’re delighted with how the launch of our new outreach went. We were able to chat with many hurting people and speak hope into situations.
“Our services are clearly as vital as ever in the local area. Just last week, we took three Fraserburgh men into our Sunnybrae men’s centre.
“We’re determined to help as many people as possible to find their way out of addiction and into freedom and this fundraiser will assist us in doing that.
“In recent years, charities across the length and breadth of the UK have felt the impact of austerity measures and we’re no different. It’s essential that we find income streams to continue to help people change their lives.”
Tesco Fraserburgh’s Community Champion, Sharon Mitchell, commented: “We love to support the community however we can at Tesco Fraserburgh, but in this case it’s been an honour to help.
“The work that Teen Challenge North East Scotland has done in its 15 years is visible in the community. To see the changes people can make, really turning their lives around is an inspiration to us all.
“People are often asked to give to good causes, but this is an amazing opportunity to help Teen Challenge and have the chance to win this incredible prize.
“All the best to those buying tickets and to Teen Challenge with their future projects.”
