Teen Challenge Benaiah - Women's Centre
Following the success of Sunnybrae, Benaiah Women's Centre opened in a limited way on 2th August 2009 under the management of Monica Jack.
It opened fully on 28th February 2010 providing a programme to women similar to the Teen Challenge programme. Currently it can cater for 6 residents.

It opened fully on 28th February 2010 providing a programme to women similar to the Teen Challenge programme. Currently it can cater for 6 residents.
Longer term the plan is to offer residential support to women with pre-school children. Referrals come from women themselves, outreaches, other agencies and GPs. Once a referral is made, in order to show commitment the applicant is required to phone in daily. Applications are processed quickly depending on responses from GPs and the motivation of the person themselves. |  |
The course is a 12 month abstinence based residential programme aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and preparing women to integrate back into society. It provides valuable life and work skills such as cooking, cleaning, gardening, administration and budgeting. This is balanced with class and group sessions working through a series of 14 studies on topics that include: Loving and Accepting Yourself, Anger Management, Growing through Failure, Life Skills.
We also plan to incorporate Parenting Classes during these sessions in the near future. Other leisure time activities include physical activities, running machines, walking, gym, table tennis, badminton, etc. on site. Weekend activities include trips to other local facilities, walking, church visits and local places of interest as a step on the road to normalisation.
